Mazza – Davide Mazzantini
Davide Mazzantini, aka Mazza, is a guitarist and singer songwriter based in London known for his unique style.
He’s been part of the UK blues scene since 2009, and shared the stage with some top blues/rock’n’roll artists from and outside the UK, such as Little George Sueref, Ian Siegal, Paul Lamb, Rollo Marquee, Jeremiah Marquez, Errol Linton, Big Joe Louis, Pierre Lacoque (Mississippi Heat, US), Adam Gussow (US) and many others, along with being part of the the Ain’t Nothin’ But..blues bar house band and jam host for 10 years. He’s built a reputation through the years in the British blues scene playing in the most famous and reputable venues of the capital, as well as touring in Europe.
In the last couple of years Mazza focused his energies in making his own band, creating a sound drawn from the deep Southern blues and presented in a rocking 4-piece format, bringing a fresh and modern approach to the genre. The vintage sound infused with a contemporary energy sets him apart from other blues artists, making him an exciting and innovative performer.
During the summer of 2023, Mazza brought his band together to record his debut album, along with a top team: on harmonica one of the best player in the UK and worldwide, Laurence Garman (Yardbirds, Bob Marley, Freddie King, Jimmy Rodgers etc); on drums Brendan O’Neill (Rory Gallagher, Nine Below Zero) a real legend of the blues and rock scene; on bass is Tsukasa Kataoka, one of the best in the London circuit; and the international blues and soul star Little George Sueref as special guest, which included backing vocals on two songs by the great singer and artist in her own right, Charo Galura. The album was recorded at the legendary Toe Rag Studios (The White Stripes, Tame Impala, Billy Childish, The Madness, James Hunter), engineered and produced by Liam Watson.
While we are waiting for his music to be released in 2024, you can have a taste of Mazza’s sound at one of his shows in London, where his energy and unique sound will get you on your feet asking for more! No matter if it’s a full-band, duo or solo performance.
