Welcome to the Fountain, we got fun and games

Here we are at the start of feburary one year one from the return of bands to the Fountain. This phase of Music at the Fountain started when I was encouraged to talk to the manager, Malik, about getting some gigs for my band Dr Isi and the Interns at the Fountain. I was told that the Fountain used to have regular music nights back in the 90’s and 00’s. I knew they had a stage as I had actually seen a band there about 3 or 4 years ago.

Anyway, Malik was up for it, we worked something out and then I started monthly gigs for my band at the pub. About seven months ago I suggested that we could start getting some other bands in so Music Nights at the Fountain started properly, and in addition to start an Open Mic / Jam night.

So far we’ve had a great time, some fantastic artists have come to our fledgling venue, a particular surprise has been the quality of our open mic nights. Our first big surprise was hosting Kato Kino who was visiting from Japan and doesn’t speak a word of English. Using the marvel that is Google translate we managed to ‘converse’ and she gave us a stunning show. Check out the videos page for footage of what she played us.

So far this year we have had great sets from Rev Swifty and Hot Sauce,  The Looters and my band Dr Isi and the Interns

For Feburary we are kicking off with new reggae covers band ‘New Roots Order’ who will be reggaeling us with  some classic Reggae and Ska tunes.
